Joseph Koechly (1748-1798), called Kochly is (supposedly) born in Switserland. He became a master cabinetmaker on September 3. 1783. He worked at the Cour saint Joseph on the Rue Charonne in Paris. He was particularly famous for his cylinder desks, undoubtedly his favorit. There are also other objects known made by Kochly like bureau plats. Kochly maintained a strict classical Louis XVI style, always with mahogany and trimmed with gilt bronze fixtures.
