Frans Breuhaus de Groot was a Dutch painter who worked in Leiden as a pastry baker until he moved to The Hague in 1838 to devote himself to art. He received drawing lessons in his spare-time during his time as a pastry baker from B. van den Broek. While living in The Hague, Frans undertook multiple trips to Germany. Frans Breuhaus de Groot eventually became a student of the famous painter Andreas Schelfhout. He became a member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam in 1845. He painted landscapes, beach-scapes and seascapes in a romantic style. His works can be found in multiple museums such as the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague.
